: Shodhganga: Kohala in the Sanskrit textual tradition (gita)Tenaka (तेनक) refers to “meaningless text� and represents one of the six kinds of Aṅga or “sections� of the Prabandha—“musical compositions (that belong to the category of Ծ-Բ)Ũİڰ. Saṅgītarāja, Gītaratnakośa, Prabandhollāsa, Sūḍaprabandha prakaraṇam, p.552].—There are two important aspects relating to prabandhas namely ٳ and ṅg. The ṅgs or “limbs� are six in number. Tenaka refers to meaningless text, usually terms expressive of the auspicious.
Gitashastra (गीतशास्त्र, īٲśٰ) refers to the ancient Indian science of Music (gita or samgita), which is traditionally divided in Vocal music, Instrumental music and Dance (under the jurisdiction of music). The different elements and technical terms are explained in a wide range of (often Sanskrit) literature.
