ṭānܱ (स्फुटानुप्रा�) refers to one of the four varieties of Գܱ: one of the 93 ṃk (“figures of speech�) mentioned by Cirañjīva Bhaṭṭācārya (fl. 17th century) in his Kāvyavilāsa, listed as one of the 4 śṃk (figure of speech determined by sound, as opposed to the sense).—When a word is repeated in the beginning, middle or end, even though the consonants or vowels related to that word be different it is ṭānܱ.

Example of the ṭānܱ-alaṃkāra:�

he mitra! aya� yogī gṛhāśramatyāga-pūrva� kṛtayogābhyāsa� paścādyogāccyuto bhogīva bhogavān gṛhastha iva saṃyāti tamimamubhayalokacyuta� tva� paśya ||

Notes: In this example the words yogi and bhogi repetition is found with some difference of consonants like y and bh. So it is an example of ṭānܱ.
