Purana and Itihasa (epic history)
: archive.org: Puranic Encyclopediaś (सिद्धाश्रम).—A hermitage. The place at which Vāmana thrust Mahābali down to Pātāla. This place became a hermitage later. When Viśvāmitra took Śrī Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa to the forest for the protection of his sacrifice, he showed them this hermitage. (Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Bālākāṇḍa, Sarga 29, Verse 22).

The complete entry reads: siddhāśramastha� paramarṣi� vibhaṇḍakasuta� śrī ṛśyaśṛṅgamahāmuni prati uddālakādibhi� maharṣibhi� sapraṇāma� jijñāsya brahmaṇa� svarūpasya prārthita tasyānuṣaṃgata� kālasvarūpa brahmasvarūpādi prapaṃca�.
