: Ancient Buddhist Texts: Geography of Early BuddhismSatiyaputta (啶膏い啶苦く啶啶む啶�) is the name of a locality situated in Dakkhi峁嚹乸atha (Deccan) or 鈥渟outhern district鈥� of ancient India, as recorded in the P膩li Buddhist texts (detailing the geography of ancient India as it was known in to Early Buddhism).鈥擲atiyaputta is referred to in Rock Edict II. It has been differently identified by different scholars. Some identity it with Satyabrata-K峁tra or Kanchipura, others with S膩tpute, still others with Satyamangalam Taluk of Coimbatore and yet others who prefer to identity it with Satyabhumi, a territory which corresponds roughly to North Malabar including a portion of Kasergode Taluk, South Canara.
