: Journal of the University of Bombay Volume V: Apabhramsa metres (2)厂补谤惫补惫颈辫耻濒腻 (啶膏ぐ啷嵿さ啶掂た啶啶侧ぞ) refers to a variety of Vipul膩: one of the three main types of 骋腻迟丑腻: one of the oldest Prakrit meters probably developed out of the epic Anu峁ａ弓ubh, as discussed in books such as the Chandonu艣膩sana, Kavidarpa峁嘺, V峁泃taj膩tisamuccaya and Svayambh奴chandas.鈥擳here are three main kinds of a 骋腻迟丑腻, i.e., Pathy膩, Vipul膩 and Capal膩. In a Pathy膩, the end of a word must coincide with the yati after the 12th 尘腻迟谤腻 in both the halves, while in the Vipul膩 it does not so coincide in one of the two halves or in both. Vipul膩 is accordingly Mukhavipul膩 or Jaghanavipul膩 or 厂补谤惫补惫颈辫耻濒腻 according as the characteristic appears in the first or second or both the halves.
Chandas (啶涏え啷嵿う啶膏) refers to Sanskrit prosody and represents one of the six Vedangas (auxiliary disciplines belonging to the study of the Vedas). The science of prosody (chandas-shastra) focusses on the study of the poetic meters such as the commonly known twenty-six metres mentioned by Pingalas.
