Source: Wisdom Library: Brihat Samhita by Varahamihira搁辞驳补办峁泃 (啶班啶椸啷冟い啷�) refers to 鈥渢hat which brings disease鈥�, according to the B峁沨atsa峁僪it膩 (chapter 9), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by Var膩hamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyoti峁).鈥擜ccordingly, 鈥淚f Venus should reappear or be crossed by a planet in the western portion of the 尘补峁囜笉补濒补s beginning from Sv膩t墨 and from Jye峁ａ弓h膩 or in the eastern portion of the 尘补峁囜笉补濒补 beginning from Magh膩, there will be happiness in the land; in all the other 尘补峁囜笉补濒补s the effects will be the same as those already described wherever Venus might happen to reappear or be then crossed. If Venus should be visible before sunset there will be fear in the land; if visible throughout the day, mankind will suffer from hunger and from disease [i.e., 谤辞驳补办峁泃]; if visible at midday in conjunction with the moon, the king鈥檚 army and capital city will suffer鈥�.
Jyotisha (啶溹啶啶むた啶�, 箩测辞迟颈峁 or jyotish) refers to 鈥榓stronomy鈥� or 鈥淰edic astrology鈥� and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas).
