: Shodhganga: Kohala in the Sanskrit textual tradition (gita)岵ṅg岵 (रागाङ्गराग) refers to one of the four classifications of Deśirāgas [viz., 岵ṅg, ṣāṅ, ṅg and ܱṅg].—Of these, 岵ṅgrāgas are those that had a close association with the 峾岵, ṣāṅrāgas are those which were linked to the ṣās, viṣās and antaraṣās of the 峾岵, ṅgrāgas are those that were related to specific emotive situations and ܱṅgrāgas are those which could not be classified under any of the above three categories.
Gitashastra (गीतशास्त्र, īٲśٰ) refers to the ancient Indian science of Music (gita or samgita), which is traditionally divided in Vocal music, Instrumental music and Dance (under the jurisdiction of music).
