Paṅgapāla is the name of an ancient city where was worshipped the god Bhuvaneśvara, as mentioned in the “Alarpur of Narasiṃha II� (1294 A. D.). Paṅgapāla may be identified with the place of that name in Parganā Barpalla in the Cuttack District.

These copper plate (mentioning Paṅgapāla) were found while digging the foundation for a house in the village Alalpur. The grant was made by king Narasiṃha II in february 1294 A.D. It's object was to increase the king’s longevity, health, wealth and majesty.
