: Acta Orientalia vol. 74 (2013): Historical sequence of the Vai峁ａ箛ava Divya诲别艣补蝉Meyyam refers to one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desam (诲颈惫测补诲别艣补蝉 or divyasthalas), located in the topographical division of Malain膩峁璾 (鈥渉ill Country鈥�), according to the 9th century N膩l膩yirativviyappirapantam (shortly N膩l膩yiram).鈥擳radition would record the Vai峁ａ箛ava 诲颈惫测补诲别艣补蝉 or divyasthalas are 108. The 诲颈惫测补诲别艣补 is a base of the cult of Vi峁ａ箛u in Vi峁ａ箛uism [Vai峁ａ箛avism] tradition. The list of 108 [viz., Meyyam] seems to have reached maturation by about the early 9th century CE as all the 诲别艣补蝉 are extolled in the hymns of the twelve 膧岣籿膩rs.
Vaishnava (啶掂啶粪啶｀さ, vai峁ａ箛ava) or vaishnavism (vai峁ａ箛avism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshipping Vishnu as the supreme Lord. Similar to the Shaktism and Shaivism traditions, Vaishnavism also developed as an individual movement, famous for its exposition of the dashavatara (鈥榯en avatars of Vishnu鈥�).

The original image of Ranganatha is rock-cut and sayana. Sparks of kopagni, emanating from the Lord, attacked the demons, Madhu and Kaitabha. The Later Vijayanagara structural additions find the sthanaka image in the garbhagrha.
The Purana (啶啶班ぞ啶�, pur膩峁嘺s) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India鈥檚 vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
