The meat of this animal is part of the 尘腻峁僺补惫补谤驳补 (鈥榞roup of flesh鈥�), which is used throughout Ayurvedic literature. The animal 碍补谤办补峁璦办补 is part of the sub-group named V膩ri艣aya, refering to animals 鈥渓iving in waters鈥�. It was classified by Caraka in his Carakasa峁僪it膩 s奴trasth膩na (chapter 27), a classical Ayurvedic work. Caraka defined such groups (vargas) based on the dietic properties of the substance.

The teachings in this text originate from Ma帽ju艣r墨 and were taught to and by Buddha 艢膩kyamuni in the presence of a large audience (including 碍补谤办补峁璦办补).

Tibetan Buddhism includes schools such as Nyingma, Kadampa, Kagyu and Gelug. Their primary canon of literature is divided in two broad categories: The Kangyur, which consists of Buddha鈥檚 words, and the Tengyur, which includes commentaries from various sources.
