According to tantric sources such as the 艢r墨matottara-tantra and the Gorak峁sa峁僪it膩 (K膩diprakara峁嘺), these twelve 驳耻峁嘺蝉 are represented as female deities. According to the 峁峁璼膩hasrasa峁僪it膩 however, they are explained as particular syllables. They (e.g. 碍腻尘补惫颈丑惫补濒腻) only seem to play an minor role with regard to the interpretation of the Dev墨cakra (first of five chakras, as taught in the 碍耻产箩颈办腻尘补迟补-迟补苍迟谤补).
