: Shodhganga: Elements of Art and Architecture in the Trtiyakhanda of the Visnudharmottarapurana (natya)The Jumping (of birds) is associated with Samap膩da: one of the 鈥渟ix kinds of Standing Postures for Men鈥� (in Indian Dramas), according to the Vi峁ａ箛udharmottarapur膩峁嘺, an ancient Sanskrit text which (being encyclopedic in nature) deals with a variety of cultural topics such as arts, architecture, music, grammar and astronomy.鈥擲tanding postures are determined separately for male and female. In the Vi峁ａ箛udharmottarapur膩峁嘺 six kinds of standing postures are discussed for men. The word sama denotes the equal position. In 蝉补尘补辫腻诲补 position, both the legs are placed at a distance of one 迟腻濒补. This posture is seen in the auspicious performance of Brahmins. This posture is also used to denote jumping of birds and sitting in chariot or aeroplanes.
Natyashastra (啶ㄠぞ啶熰啶ざ啶距じ啷嵿い啷嵿ぐ, 苍腻峁瓂补艣腻蝉迟谤补) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya鈥攖heatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).
