: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationGirijānātha (गिरिजाना�) refers to the “consort of Pārvatī� and is used to describe Śiva, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.4.15 (“Gaṇeśa’s battle�).—Accordingly, as Brahmā narrated to Naradā: “excellent sage, on hearing their words and seeing the Gaṇas completely shattered, lord Śiva told them everything. O excellent sage, Śiva, the lord of all, the consort of Pārvatī (ٳ), then laughingly told me, Brahmā�.

The Purana (पुरा�, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
