Derge or sDe-dge, also spelt bDe-dge and sDe-deg, is a remote place and principality in Eastern Tibet. It lies on the left bank of the Yang-tse-kiang in the -’aԲ province. Of the several monasteries belonging to this principality, that of Derge itself is the most famous. It is occupied by followers of the Tantric Ñ--貹 sect, who disavow the reforms of Atīśa and ղ--貹. As late as the 19th century, the Yellow Church had not yet succeeded in getting any hold on the region.

The Kanjur and Tanjur editions of this lamasery must therefore be considered heterodox. The Kanjur blocks of the first impression are said to have dated from the 15th or 16th century.
