Collyrium (i.e., 鈥渙ccult eye-collyrium鈥�) refers to one of the boons (granted by Aghor墨), forming part of the powers granted to one following certain Yoga practices, according to the Brahmay膩mala-tantra (or Picumata), an early 7th century 艢aiva text consisting of twelve-thousand verses.鈥擜ccordingly, [while describing a 丑补峁环补-蝉腻诲丑补苍补 (foreceful practice)]: 鈥淸When the S膩dhaka] remains [in the hole] for up to one day, he is freed from all sins. [...] On the eighth day, the S膩dhaka sees the shadow of Aghor墨. Thus content, she gives [a boon, saying to the S膩dhaka], 鈥楪ood, my dear! Choose a boon: either lord of the earth, immortality, levitation, [entry into the] netherworlds, coming and going through the sky, invisibility, the elixir of mercury, the wish-fulfilling gem, the [magical] sword, the [seven-league] sandals or the [occult] eye collyrium (濒辞肠补苍补-补帽箩补苍补) [...]鈥� [...]鈥�

Collyrium is identified with the Sanskrit A帽jana, which is used in a recipe for the subjugation elephants, according to the 15th century Matangalila composed by Nilakantha in 263 Sanskrit verses, dealing with elephantology in ancient India, focusing on the science of management and treatment of elephants.鈥擺Cf. chapter 10, 鈥渙n the catching of elephants鈥漖: 鈥�10. He shall apply (to the cows) a subjugating ointment made of various things; with Celosia cristata, 尘腻濒别测补 (cardamoms?), collyrium (补帽箩补苍补), 苍腻驳补辫耻峁补 (name of various plants), and honey.
