The Pali form is taken by commentary and modern exegetes as for arth墨k峁泃v膩. Our form might be a false Sanskritization of this. But Tibetan rus 艣i峁� ltar 岣zin pa, taking hold in persevering (rus 艣i峁�; but lit. bone-like? rus pa, bone) fashion (alternatively, ched cher 岣zin pa, taking hold more and more, with intensity). Is the resem- blance of rus 艣i峁� to rus (pa) bone a mere coincidence? There is, however, a v.l. 膩sth墨掳, which suggests derivation from a form of 膩-sth膩-; compare 膩sthiti.
