Source: Wisdom Library: Brihat Samhita by VarahamihiraAgnyanilaja (啶呧啷嵿え啷嵿く啶ㄠた啶侧) [=Agnyanila?] refers to 鈥渇ire and winds鈥�, according to the B峁沨atsa峁僪it膩 (chapter 8), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by Var膩hamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyoti峁).鈥擜ccordingly, 鈥淭he Nak峁tras鈥擱ohi峁嚹� and K峁泃tik膩, form the body of the Vatsara Puru峁, the two 膧峁Ｄ佱笉has form his navel, 膧艣le峁Ｄ� forms the heart and Magh膩, the heart-bladder; when benef铆c planets pass through these, there will be happiness in the land; if malefic planets should pass through the body, there will be suffering from fire and winds [i.e., agnyanilaja]; if they should pass through the navel, there will be suffering from starvation; if they should pass through the heart-bladder, roots and fruits will suffer, and if they should pass through the heart, crops will perish鈥�.
Jyotisha (啶溹啶啶むた啶�, 箩测辞迟颈峁 or jyotish) refers to 鈥榓stronomy鈥� or 鈥淰edic astrology鈥� and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas). Jyotisha concerns itself with the study and prediction of the movements of celestial bodies, in order to calculate the auspicious time for rituals and ceremonies.
