Summary: The Karandavyuha Sutra: English translation. This 4th century Sutra extols the virtues and powers of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and records his transformation into the principal figure of the Buddhist pantheon. The Karandavyuha Sutra is also noted for introducing the mantra “Om mani padme hum� into the Sutra tradition.
